Saginaw firefighters respond after excavator hits I

A semi hauling an excavator on northbound M-13 struck an I-675 overpass in Saginaw the afternoon of Aug. 28, 2023.

SAGINAW, MI -- A semi truck hauling an excavator along M-13 on Saginaw’s East Side has crashed into a Interstate 675 overpass.

The collision was reported about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28. The excavator could not fit beneath the overpass, striking the steel beams under it.

Saginaw firefighters are on scene, said Battalion Chief Ray Tanner. Traffic along northbound M-13, connecting Saginaw to Bay City, is closed.

Traffic along I-675 is still moving, though that may change once Michigan Department of Transportation staff assess it, Tanner said.

No injuries were reported.
