Excavator crashes into overpass along I

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. — An excavator being hauled by a semi truck struck an overpass Tuesday, Aug. 29 while traveling along Interstate 94 in Clay County.

According to a report from Sgt. Jesse Grabow of the Minnesota State Patrol, the semi was traveling eastbound 5 miles east of Moorhead when the excavator crashed into the overpass for Clay County Road 17.

As a result of the crash, the right lane along I-94 was closed. No injuries were reported and the overpass bridge is being inspected for safety.

The crash remains under investigation, Grabow said. The identity of the driver involved was not immediately released.

Four other crashes were reported earlier in the day along I-94 in Fargo as well.
