Assam: Dumper Runs Over Two People on a Motorcycle

UMRANGSO: In a major road mishap, a high-speed dumper ran over two people aboard a motorcycle. Both the victims died on the spot.

The accident took place near the 26 KM mark at Umrangso in the Dima Hasao district of the state. The accident took place on Saturday. The motorcycle bearing registration AS 09 G 8416 collided with the dumber bearing registration number AS 09 C 7957 leading to the death of Clarson Hanse age 17 years, and Pabitra Bey age 39 years.

Meanwhile, the Umrangso police recovered the dead bodies and sent them for necessary post mortem. They also seized the dumber which was involved in the accident.

Also, in the early hours of a Saturday in Assam, tragedy struck at another accident claiming the lives of at least two individuals. These incidents serve as stark reminders of the ongoing road safety challenges faced by the region. In the first unfortunate instance, a couple met their untimely demise when the motorcycle they were riding lost control and collided with a side wall in Changsari, located within the Kamrup district.

The victims have been identified as Jasmat Ali and Joytan Bewa. According to reliable sources, the couple was on a journey from Guwahati to Mangaldai when the tragic mishap occurred, abruptly ending their voyage. Swiftly responding to the scene, local authorities arrived promptly and took charge of the situation. The bodies of the deceased were recovered to undergo the necessary post-mortem procedures. This heartrending incident highlights the critical importance of adhering to road safety guidelines and exercising caution, especially on two-wheeled vehicles.

These back-to-back tragedies cast a sombre shadow over Assam's road safety landscape.
